We have an extensive judging panel that consists of some of the most respected and experienced experts in the virtual reality industry.

Stage 1 - Eligibility Check

Representatives from the Academy of International Extended Reality will check your application to ensure it is eligible for nomination by checking your nomination against the categories' entry conditions.

If your nomination isn't eligible for the nominated category, we would first try and asses if it can be moved to an alternative eligible category. Failing that, we may contact you to advise your application has been rejected.

Stage 2 - Internal Shortlisting

All eligible nominations move forward to an internal shortlisting round.

Representatives from the Academy of International Extended Reality will score each project based on the submission questions for each category, which you can view here

The Internal shortlisting round follows the same weighted scoring system as the Stage 3 Finalist Judging round. You can view more information on how we use weighted questions here.

A selection of nominations from each category is selected to progress to the Finalist status. Finalists will be publicly announced on 01 August 2023

Stage 3 - Finalist Judging

All finalists are judged by our panel of industry experts. Judges will score each project based on the submission questions for each category, which you can view here

Submissions are scored using a weighted points system

Judges thoroughly asses each project, with judging taking place over several weeks. The project with the highest score progresses to Winner status - With the exception of VR Game of the Year and VR Content Creator of the Year.

Stage 4 - Public Voting

VR Game of the Year and VR Content Creator of the Year only

All finalists from VR Game of the Year and VR Content Creator of the Year have an element of public voting.

Votes from the general public are combined with the judge's score to determine an overall winner.
