1. AIXR Technology Council (ATC)
What’s Changing:
The AIXR Advisory Status Programme is transitioning to the AIXR Technology Council (ATC).
Reason for Change:
This restructure is designed to streamline and clarify our approach, focusing on structured and impactful engagement among technology leaders.
Note: All current advisor status members will be moved to the ATC framework, where you’ll have more structured opportunities to engage with peers in your field.
ATC Framework Details:
1.1. Technology Council (ATC)
Scope: The ATC is the overall programme that includes all members, who are categorized based on their technology focus and industry sector.
Purpose: To provide a high-level platform for discussing technology trends and challenges, and to foster collaboration among members
1.2 Council Member Types:
Council Chairs (CCs): Lead the Council Forums and Summits. They facilitate discussions and ensure meetings run smoothly.
Council Members (CMs): Regular members of the ATC who participate in Council Forums and Summits. Membership is by invitation only.
Council Fellows (CFs): Leaders from top technology companies, recognized for their significant influence and expertise. They participate in Steering Board forums and lead strategic discussions.
Guests: Invited by Council Members using guest passes. Guests can attend a session once; if they join the programme, both members gets one month of free membership added to the end of their subscription.
What: Sub-groups within the ATC, organized by technology focus (e.g., XR, AI, Web3).
Membership: Composed solely of Council Fellows (CFs).
Purpose: To engage in deep, technology-specific discussions and strategic planning. SBs receive insights from Industry Councils and produce annual reports on their technology area. 1.4. Industry Councils (ICs)
What: Sub-groups within each technology focus area, organized by industry sector (e.g., Enterprise, Gaming, Retail).
Membership: Includes all Council Members (CMs) within a specific sector.
Purpose: These councils are dedicated to providing a private, Chatham House Rules environment for leaders and executives to share their personal challenges, seek advice, and collaborate with peers. The goal is to foster a network of support among leaders who face similar issues, offering a space for open dialogue and mutual assistance.
2. Updated Meeting Formats
Council Forums:
What: Monthly meetings, now called Council Forums.
Universally applied format Update:
Introduction: Brief introductions including names, companies, and current challenges.
Lead Discussion Topic: Extended discussion on a relevant issue.
Announcements: Personal updates, company updates, and hiring / resource needs.
Peer Learning: 15-minute presentations or case studies, followed by a Q&A session.
Close: Brief wrap-up.
Council Summits:
What: Occasional cross-council events.
Purpose: To facilitate sharing of insights and challenges between different councils. This encourages broader discussions and brings fresh perspectives to ongoing issues.
3. Implementation Timeline
September 2024: Members will start seeing gradual changes to the naming conventions. The first rollout of the ATC Framework and updated Forum format will be implemented for the end-of-month forums.
October 2024: The transition will be complete for the start of the October forums. The guest pass system will be active, and planning for Council Summits will begin with the assistance of Council Chairs.
December 5, 2024: The AIXR XR Awards will serve as the first in-person gathering of AIXR Technology Council members, featuring a celebration and networking event.
