VR Game of the Year celebrates the pinnacle of virtual reality gaming, rewarding those who have demonstrated exceptional creativity and innovation. Nominees must bring a unique perspective to the table, elevating the immersive experience far beyond traditional gaming.

Nominees must showcase originality and ingenuity in both gameplay and design. Judges will carefully evaluate a range of factors, including the innovative features, stunning graphics, and immersive audio that make the game stand out from the crowd.

The winning game must provide a user experience that is both enjoyable and accessible, engaging players with exciting and interactive gameplay that keeps them coming back for more. It must showcase exceptional originality, demonstrating a deep understanding of what makes virtual reality gaming so unique and special.

Conditions for this category

  • Cannot be location-based.*

  • Nominations are accepted on behalf of clients or direct.

  • Released and made publicly available between 04 August 2022 - 03 August 2023

  • Expansion packs and upgrades which significantly alter a game are eligible

  • Games must be made available for judging purposes

  • Publicly available Early Access games are eligible

*Games that incorporate location-based interaction with the physical environment around the user are encouraged to nominate for Location-Based-Entertainment of the Year.
